No trucks, no small debris, just a great view of the tracks and three shipping containers.
The large lot to the east of the parkette, which has its historical claim to fame as
the roofing division lot Canadian Rogers Eastern Limited. A building occupied the rear of the lot for many decades. Situated in the middle of the lot width with interior space of about 600 sq feet and a raised dock portion surrounding the building from which tar, sheet roofing etc was loaded onto the company trucks.
Later the lot was used as a parking lot for Canadian Rogers Eastern Limited employees and rented out most recently to Topper Linen Supply for delivery truck parking. In the past few days Topper Linen Supply trucks have stopped parking at the site.
So it’s now time to wonder if major change is fast approaching the site.

I have noticed the same.
My first thought/wish was – how wonderful it would be if the city bought the land to increase the size of the parkette….but this city is so corrupt, I’m sure developers will yet again get their way.
Hey, that happened in the 70′s the west side of the park was six giant grain silos, in 72 the city bought the land and tore down the building. There was an outcry from the community do do it.
Sadly I do not think that will happen again.

No – I don’t think the city would spring for more parkland unfortunately.
I’m sure we’ll see some new townhouses similar to the ones that went up east of Pacific….although – that will be far better than the eyesore of a parking lot that sits there now.
