Two major demos occurring in the Junction – photo post

Right now there are two major building teardowns occurring in the Junction. The demolition of the Runnymede Healthcare Centre which  recently opened a new building and the Carleton Village public school on Davenport Ave West .

Both teardowns are contributing to new buildings to better serve the community yet, more heritage lost is sad. Although in the case of the Carleton Village public school some of the old building will remain to be incorporated into the new police station.

I’m glad you got some photos of the Carleton Village school. I had wanted to take some as they progress with the demo but unfortunately my camera has MIA. In the shots you posted the northern wing was still standing, but they are now in process of tearing that down.
I live next to the school and I’m seeing changes daily. I have sense of anticipation for the new building, knowing pains have been taken to incorporate old with the new, however I can’t help but feel sad seeing parts of the grand old lady being torn down despite the neglect she was subjected to for the last few years that made her look a bit tattered.

Any ideas on what’s going to happen with the current 11 Division Police building at
    209 Mavety Street
